What I'm Working On Right Now

Oblivion by Mark D Watkins

"Did you ever do that thing where you ‘fall off a kerb’ in your sleep? Something jolts you and your body jerks in reaction to the sensation. On most occasions, you’ll wake up, realise what happened and settle back down to sleep. Sometimes you awake and are embarrassed to find that you fell asleep on a bus or train and people are now staring at you. Other times you sleep on, not realising it’s even happened. Well, ‘falling off’ something is exactly what happened to Simon Blundy. Except, for Simon, the thing he fell off was life itself."

Oblivion is a book for early teen readers. It's in draft at the moment and, when complete, I'll be seeking a literary agent and publisher. As things progress, I'll post updates here and hopefully, eventually a publication date. In the meantime, you can download the first chapter of Oblivion here (PDF)

Other Stuff

Mr Pip and the Magic Cupboard by Mark D Watkins

"Mr Pip was a black and white rabbit who lived with two little boys called James and George. That should be the end of the story, but it isn't. You see Mr Pip wasn't an ordinary rabbit at all. He always started each day intending to be an ordinary rabbit. But extraordinary things kept happening to Mr Pip, and he was starting to think that he just wasn't cut out to be an ordinary bunny."

Mr Pip and the Magic Cupboard is the first in a series of stories for pre-teen readers about an ordinary rabbit's extraordinary adventures. You can download the whole story of Mr Pip and the Magic Cupboard here (PDF)

Meet Mr Pip

Mr Pip was the real-life inspiration for Mr Pip and the Magic Cupboard and lots of other stories.

Mr Pip liked carrots, jaffa cakes and ringing his toy bell. He was also partial to thumping his feet in protest at anything he didn't like.
